Safety tips for Equipment haulers

Coordination and planning go hand in hand when it comes to heavy equipment hauling. These heavy equipment hauling safety tips reduce the occurrence of injury. If followed properly, these safety tips save a lot of money by avoiding damage.

1)     Selection of an appropriate vehicle and trailer

·        For heavy equipment transportation having an appropriate trailer is very important. While selecting a trailer you should keep two things in mind 1) right axle design 2) load configurations

Both of these should be selected according to the size of oversized loads.

·        Experienced equipment haulers should check the safety rating and load capacity of the trailer.

·        Check the power of the vehicle; it should have sufficient power to pull the trailer safely.

·        Lights, reflectors, tires, horns, axles, and all the other components of the vehicle and the trailer should be in working condition.

·        Don’t ever forget to apply the brakes before loading the oversized loads onto the trailer or vehicle.

2)     Distribution and securing of the load

·        Distribution and securing of the load in the proper way is very important for safety.

·        Improper loading while oversize trucking can lead to truck accidents.

·        We should place the load in such a way that the weight is distributed evenly throughout the trailer as well as the vehicle.

·        Uneven distribution of the loads is a very common cause of accidents.

·        Cargo should be fixed to its place in order to secure it from falling down.

3)     Trained and experienced driver

·        While selecting a driver make sure he is well experienced in securing the load, handling the equipment, and road safety protocols.

·        He should have experience in oversize load trucking.

·        Speed limit considerations should be properly taken care of.

·        Driving at fast speed is always hazardous. Keep it slow and steady.

4)     Follow laws and regulation properly

·        Always keep in mind the laws and regulations of the state or country in which you have to undergo oversize load trucking

·        Laws vary from one state to another, so always go through the laws of your starting as well as the destination location.
